Seaport Village San Diego – Celebrate All Things Local!

Seaport Village San Diego – Celebrate All Things Local!

My latest San Diego discovery… Seaport Village! On a recent LA getaway, our family enjoyed an entire day of fun and adventure exploring this charming “village” of quaint boutiques, souvenir shops, and restaurants conveniently located adjacent to San Diego’s number one tourist attraction, the Midway aircraft carrier. Overlooking San Diego Bay and surrounded by beautifully landscaped parks and a marina of impressive sailboats and yachts, Seaport Village captures the essence of the San Diego laid-back lifestyle.

Hooray for LOCAL! Not a chain store in sight. And my toddlers could not get enough of the beautifully restored historic 125 year-old carousel. How many rides are enough? For Enzo and Isabella, even four did not satisfy their love for riding the “flying horses”.

Seaport Village also offers daily outdoor live entertainment featuring talented local musicians. And we also enjoyed a ninety-minute seal tour of the bay on an amphibious vehicle known as a “duck” that departs from the center of Seaport Village.

Restaurants offer a festival of seafood delights; my favorite was the lobster roll at Sally’s Fish House & Bar. There was so much plump and juicy lobster on my roll that I couldn’t eat it all.

Leftovers made for a delicious evening snack back at our room at the very elegant Manchester Grand Hyatt, also located adjacent to Seaport Village, as well as downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp District, the convention center, and Union Station for those arriving by train from LA on Amtrak’s Surfliner.  The views from our room were amazing! Presently, the Manchester Grand Hyatt is offering a special California staycation package, check it out here…

Seaport Village offers a full day of family fun, entertainment, and great food.  Our family recommends it.

Live Music and other events can be found here!
